As the customer browse they will be presented with many prompts to encourage purchase:

Top ten best selling items.

A list of the top ten best selling items are displayed in the left or right column and helps to encourage the gift seeking shopper. It taps their impulse to see what others have been buying and may opt to get the same.

Product association

When a customer selects an item to view details a column displays items which goes well with the selected. ie; A DVD player selected would have a TV, surround system and some movies as suggested associated purchase.

Feature item

You may have some items you want to feature to increase the sales or introduce. This is great for that purpose and is displayed in the right or left column. Curiosity will bring shoppers to the details.

Items on sale

Items on sale are highlighted for prominence. Many shoppers scour Online stores just as they would their local stores, searching for sales and special offerings. Very effective.

What others have bought with the selected item

When a customer is viewing an item in detail they may also see items which other customers bought when they purchased the selected item. This also helps the gift shopper decide and encourages more shopping.

Language selection

Language packs are great if your shop reaches across international borders and the language differs from your default. The customer can select his language and browse in that language. This also encourages a user as they tend to feel that you understand their needs and patronizing.

Currency selection

Some shoppers need to know the actual cost in their currency and so they can select their currency from a list and all prices will be converted. This is good if your shop reaches across international borders.

Product search

Searches can be done with partial words so if a customer does not remember exactly the name of an item but just a part or something related which would be in the description or associated keywords then a list is returned with the closest matches. This is especially ideal for shops with items over 20.

Product reviews

A customer can read reviews about the selected item which may encourage them to buy because other where very satisfied. They can also write their review.

Send item link to friend

This is great for increasing visibility and sales. If a shopper sees something which they know a friend will want then they click 'Send to friend' and a message and a link is sent to the email address entered. Some people just like to get stuff for others and if they can't afford it they still want to see the person with it and this helps to tap into that impulse.

Gift certificates

Customers can purchase gift certificates which the receiver will then come to your online store to use. While you won't be earning any more than that which the purchaser spent, you now have been exposed to another potential client.

Search Tool

Customers can easily find items by enter full or partial words and the system will return all matches. Just like a search engine would. This makes it easy for a user when they have an idea of what they want and don't want to spend time browsing. This is where you make it easier by adding significant and relative description for each item. You also have the option (recommended) to add Meta keywords and description to each category and item.
